Comments: My wife and I just purchased a 2009 truck camper. (Two weeks ago.) We live in the S.F. bay area and I was thinking about checking this place out. I'm glad I read the reviews first. I believe "word of mouth" is the very best advertisement and I thank those who wrote their reviews. My wife is afraid of dogs, and I'm not about to spend my holiday, vacation, weekend, etc. picking up some other persons dogs poop! Again, thank you guy's for writing the reviews...Carmel by the River, maybe you too should pay attention to the reviews your getting.

Comments: Though we enjoyed our stay at Carmel by the River RV Park, I thought the owners should have respected their own policies. They have a leash rule for the guests dogs but they have several dogs of their own that run loose all of the time. Our little grandchildren were intimidated by the largest one. We had to clean up 5 dog "piles" in our campsite before we could let the grandkids out to play. The dogs were also a nuisance when we barbequed and ate outside at the picnic tables. They kept trying to get at the food. The rules say "No wood fires" are allowed. We have a free standing fireplace we take camping and it would have been nice to enjoy a campfire at night but we didn't. However, the owners had a BIG fire in their free standing fireplace. I guess the rules are for everyone else. The recreation room was a filthy, dirty, unsanitary mess. We couldn't let the kids use it. We won't go back.

Comments: We stayed here for a long weekend and would NEVER bring our kids here again. The people who run the place allow their dogs to run around unattended. We had to clean dog poop from our campsite before we could even set up. Their dogs bothered our small children and they never did a thing about it. Several older campers were rude to our children while they were just riding their bikes. This place and NOT kid friendly and there are MANY unattended dogs who poop wherever they desire. Save yourself the headache of rude people and badmannered dogs. Go somewhere else!

Comments: Went for Labor Day when all other places were full they were available & extremely friendly & helpful. Family owned & ran. The facility is small but very quite. Kid & dog friendly alike. Very clean & just minutes to Carmel Valley. I would go back & definetly recommend.

Comments: We called to make a reservation and the person who answered the phone was so rude. When asking questions she acted like she had something better to do. I ended up hanging up. I WOULD NOT refer this place to anyone. Remember first impressions are EVERYTHING!
